3 days from Marrakech to Merzouga desert itinerary

DAY 1: MARRAKECH – HIGH ATLAS – AIT BENHADDOU KASBAH – VALLEY OF ROSE – DADES VALLEY.
After breakfast, we will depart for our best 3-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert, driving towards the High Atlas mountains. These mountains connect Marrakech to southeastern Morocco. Along the way, we will make few stops to admire the best panoramic views of the mountainous villages, including a visit to a workshop that produces handmade Argan oil. After approximately 3 hours of driving, we will arrive at Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site situated on the southern slopes. Our driver or guide will lead us on a walking tour of this stunning Kasbah, allowing us to explore its alleys, stairs, and rocky pathways. Once we return from the Kasbah visit, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. Sometime in the afternoon, our journey will then continue toward Dades Valley, passing through Ouarzazate, known as “the Hollywood of Africa,” as well as Skoura Valley and the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. Upon our arrival in Dades Valley, we will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea while checking into our rooms. Dinner and an overnight stay.

DAY 2: DADES VALLEY – TODRA GORGE – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA DESERT.
On the second day of our Morocco desert tour, we’ll depart from Dades Valley to the dunes of Merzouga desert. Our first stop will be at Todra Valley, where we can take photos of the old Jewish houses before continuing to the towering canyons of Todra, which reach an altitude of 300 meters. Enjoy a walk beneath the canyons, listening to the soothing sounds of the flowing river and feeling the fresh breeze. As we approach the desert dunes, we will pass by several Ksours—Berber villages—and make a stop in Erfoud, known as “The Fossil Capital,” for lunch and a visit to a fossil and marble workshop. Afterward, we will venture toward the desert dunes. Upon arrival, we will enjoy a camel trekking excursion to witness a breathtaking sunset, guided by our English-speaking camel man. Following the sunset, then return on camels to our luxury desert camp, where we would enjoy an evening of drumming, dinner, and an overnight stay under the stars. The camp is well-equipped with private toilets and hot showers.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA DESERT – RISSANI – ALNIF – DRAA VALLEY – OUARZAZATE – MARRAKECH
On the 3rd day our Morocco Desert tour, we have the option to wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast in the camp’s restaurant, we’ll set off on our return itinerary from Merzouga to Marrakech. As we drive through desert landscapes lined with Acacia trees, we will pass the village of Alnif before reaching the Draa Palm Grove, which is filled with thousands of palm trees. The itinerary will include a stop for lunch at a restaurant along the route. Once everyone is ready, we will cross the Ait Saouen mountains and arrive in Ouarzazate. If time permits, we may visit Taourirt Kasbah and the Cinema Studio of Ouarzazate before continuing our journey to Marrakech via the High Atlas mountains.
