We start our 6-day Morocco itinerary with a guided tour of Fes. First, we marvel at the intricate architecture of Bou Inania Madrasa. Next, we visit Al Quaraouiyine University, renowned as the oldest university in the world. Then, we explore the vibrant Chouara Tanneries, where leather is dyed using traditional methods. After enjoying a traditional Moroccan lunch, we stroll through the winding streets of the Fes el-Bali medina. Here, we visit the historic Mellah and stop at the majestic gates of the Royal Palace. Our day concludes with a breathtaking sunset view from Borj Nord.

2ⁿᵈ day: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou Cedar Forest – Middle Atlas – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert (7 hours driving)

After an early breakfast, we begin the second day of our Desert Itinerary. We drive to Ifrane, also called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” for its unique charm. Then, we visit the Azrou Cedar Forest, home to playful Barbary macaques. We journey through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping to admire scenic landscapes. Next, we descend into the lush Ziz Valley, known for its endless palm groves. By afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga Desert, where we check into our accommodation. The day ends with a magical night in the golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi.

3ʳᵈ day: Merzouga Desert Excursion (3 hours driving)

After breakfast, we begin a thrilling 4×4 excursion through the towering Erg Chebbi dunes, which reach heights of 250 meters. First, we visit the serene Tissardmin Oasis and explore ancient fossil quarries. Next, we meet a nomadic family and learn about their unique way of life. Following this, we stop in Khamlia Village to enjoy traditional Gnawa music and mint tea. After lunch at a Berber restaurant, we prepare for an unforgettable camel trek through the dunes. We witness a stunning sunset before arriving at a luxury desert camp. Here, we enjoy dinner and traditional music under the stars, with private, well-equipped tents awaiting us.

4ᵗʰ day: Merzouga Desert – Erfoud – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley (5 hours driving)

We wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, followed by breakfast. Departing the desert, we head to Erfoud, known as the “capital of fossils.” We visit a local fossil workshop before continuing to the breathtaking Todra Gorge, where 300-meter cliffs create stunning vistas. After exploring the gorge, we travel to the Dades Valley, famous for its dramatic Monkey Toes rock formations. We settle into our accommodation in the heart of the valley for dinner and an overnight stay.

5ᵗʰ day: Dades Valley – Rose Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas – Marrakech (6 hours driving)

Our day begins with a visit to the panoramic Dades Gorge. Next, we head to the Rose Valley, known for its fragrant pink blossoms. We continue through the Skoura Valley to Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Sahara,” where we stop at the Kasbah of Taourirt and the famous cinema studios. Afterward, we explore the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou, an ancient kasbah showcasing traditional earthen architecture. In the afternoon, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,600 meters high), enjoying stunning views along the way. Finally, we arrive in Marrakech, where we prepare for the last day of our tour.

6ᵗʰ day: Marrakech City Tour (Minimal driving)

Our final day begins with a visit to the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, a landmark of Marrakech. Next, we explore the lush Jardin Majorelle, famous for its vibrant blue accents and exotic plants. Then, we dive into the bustling Medina, where the souks offer spices, textiles, and handcrafted goods. We continue to the beautiful Bahia Palace, showcasing exquisite Moroccan architecture, and the historic Saadian Tombs. Finally, we wrap up our Fes to Marrakech desert tour at the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, filled with performers, food stalls, and local artisans.
